Queen's Scout Award

The Queen's Scout Award is the top achievement for Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members and comprises of a variety of activities to complete.

The Queen's Scout Award (QSA) is linked closely to the Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award and it is worth working on the two awards together.

To gain the award you must complete all of the following requirements before your 25th birthday.

The PDF below has lots of info to help you start planning your Queen's Scout Award!

Requirements:

  • Be aged 16-25 and a member of UK Scouting (either Explorers or Network)

  • Complete 18 nights away as an Explorer or Network members, at least 12 of which should be outside.

  • Complete six activities in total, two from each of the following areas: International, Community and Values. Read about these areas and suggested activities on the UK Scout website here.

  • Hold your Gold Duke of Edinburgh award or complete the Queen's Scout Award Challenge (similar requirements to the Gold DofE, taking up a skill, physical activity and voluntary service for 12 months, taking part in a residential and completing a practice and final 4-day expedition).

  • Give a presentation of all aspects of your award.

Completing your Queen's Scout Award gives you an invite to a day of celebration at Windsor Castle on St George's Day and you can join the Queen's Scout Working Party, a National Scout Active Support Unit that help at national events.
